The escalators in Exeter’s House of Fraser store don’t take you to the top floor.  Instead, they deposit you in Ladies Wear – a place full of temptations!  But this time your humble bloggist had her mind set on higher thing, so after a short search Jan and I found the lift to the top floor, where hides the Natural Image Wig Boutique.  It’s run by two charming ladies called Ann and Joanna, and what it lacks in space it certainly makes up in superb service.

I was immediately affirmed, made to feel at ease and sat in front of a large mirror, then crowned with a variety of wigs – straight ones, curly ones, long ones and shorter ones.  But I had instantly fallen in love with the first wig, and that’s the one I eventually chose.  I thanked them sincerely for taking me seriously and accepting me as a normal person, was rewarded with a big hug, then Jan and I took our leave with me proudly carrying my old wig and a variety of spays and potions in a brightly coloured carrier bag.

Feeling like celebrating, we teamed up again with Sue and drove down to the Quayside for a stroll in the sunshine and a cup of coffee.  Jan took the photo.  I hope you approve of the ‘new’ look, which admittedly isn’t so very different from the old one, though the cut is much better and the material much, much softer.

It was Anne, our delightful host during last year’s holiday in France, who first remarked that my wig was a disaster. I responded that it had been bought in a hurry on a low budget, after the previous one turned out to be truly hopeless. Well, Anne, I think you’ll approve of this one – not in the style of your Jane’s but reassuringly expensive!  Truth be told, I’ve had the odd pang of regret since buying it, wondering whether it really is ‘me’ but, to coin a phrase, it’s growing on me.

Very stylish and fetching! One thing about wigs, they don’t get messed up in a breeze. My hair is fine and flies everywhere in the slightesr puff of wind. So I’m contantly repairing how it looks.

Lucy, the hair on this wig is much finer than the last one, and like your real hair flies everywhere in the wind. Thankfully, the styling spray they sold me really works without leaving the hair feeling sticky. Mine’s intended for synthetic hair, but I recommend that you try the ‘real’ stuff. We can’t go around looking dishevelled, can we!

A very nice wig Angela. Good wigs don’t come cheap so I’ll wager you spent quite a tidy sum but it is worth it. Why spoil the cake for want of a good icing? Love

I had to page back a few posts to compare this wig with your previous one. It’s a bit lighter isn’t it, good choice!

One thing I have learned about wigs is that you get what you pay for, so you won’t regret the extra outlay.

Well spotted, Jenny. It is a bit lighter than the previous one and has blonde streaks that I think are rather nice. For the record, it cost £150 – so about middle of the range.

Angie, I think the new wig looks great and I’m still an avid follower of your blog. Sue is absolutely wonderful and I wish you the best of luck.

    Hi Angie

Yes, I will add my voice to everyone that likes the new wig. I looks good quality even from a distance, and the style and length are very you. I have long and my old shorter wig which has really seen better days. I often wish I could replace the shorter one especially for ‘day wear’, but feel hesitant about buying ‘expensive’ when I wear it so infrequently. Hugs Tina x
